HeartGold and SoulSilver is out in the stores in Europe!!!

I haven’t been able to post any new posts lately due to the lack of a computer. However, that has given me a good time to play my… SOULSILVER!!!

That’s what I bought between the two of them! And my best friend bought HeartGold!!

Soul Silver (and Heart Gold, off course) is INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL!!! So wonderful, I’m in lack of words! Almost! The music is brushed up from Gold and Silver back in the Game Boy days and it seems that Nintendo and Game Freak have taken a risky chance and made the effort in landing on both feet here. SUCCESS! They are so fantastic to listen to, and while they may have taken a step (just a single step) away from the original music on the Game Boy than FireRed and LeafGreen did, they are well recognizable and well made! Few will be dissapointed if any!

The music is, as always, wonderful and catchy! The graphics have never been better on a handheld Pokèmon RPG before!! And the game has a definite mood in it! A good mood! When you are near water you can hear it streaming of it or the sea hitting shore! I am stunned!

If there is something to point about in the previous Pokèmon RPG games, that is Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, it would be that the graphics are a bit jagged. HeartGold and SoulSilver has more lively graphics, with wind blowing in New Bark Town and buildings being amazing! Okey, Platinum had some brushed up graphics, and new building demanding respect for their looks, but the title screen on these games have the best 3D graphics I’ve ever seen on a DS games! So smooth, it could be from GameCube!!

I chose SoulSilver version, as I had Silver version to Game Boy Color. Pokèmon Silver version was even my first game on a handheld console ever! It was just natural for me to pick SoulSilver, even though the two games are mostly alike. I also started with Cyndaquil as I did back then (though I didn’t call it Centi or Cyber… jeez).

And you wont be easily bored by playing one of the two versions! Even when you’re not using the DS you can train any one (not anyone) Pokèmon to the little gadget that comes along with the games – the PokèWalker! It’s even fun to catch Pokèmon this simple way, and one could also wind items and bring them both back to the DS cart. And the more steps you walk the more Watts you earn and can use them in the PokèWalker in these ways or to simply unlock new areas with new Pokès and items.

Yes, it seems like Nintendo and Game Freak has put more… heart and soul in these games (sorry, I had to!) and that’s what the remakes of the most popular Pokèmon games of all times deserve! Thank you game Freak!!!! Thank you Nintendo!!!!!

18… hours left!!!!!

March 25, 2010

It’s no longer even a week left! I’m almost in a state of disbelief, I have waited so long, and it’s finally coming at the end of this week! This friday!!

I have blogged about so many things on this blog, but there is actually one thing I still haven’t thought about yet…

When HeartGold and SoulSilver is released, you can finally link with all the Pokémon regions!

Sure you have Sinnoh and Johto now, but the other two? Don’t forget that you can actually get Pokémon from Ruby, Sapphire, FireRed, LeafGreen and Emerald!!
Using the GBA slot for those of you who have the Original Nintendo DS or the Nintendo DS Lite. (Haha! take that you DSi-suckers, finally something we “old” Nintendo DS gamers can take advantage from.)

Within these games the Hoenn (R/S/E) and Kanto (FR/LG) regions.
However, you can only migrate Pokémon from this games, meaning you can’t return them back to these games. Bummer, but, that’s life and it would probably cause errors within the old games if mixed with the new ones.

Still, now all regions can be connected together finally!
Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh!

Wohooo! 😀

TOMORROW!!!!!!!! It will be in my hands in about 18 hours from the moment I post this post!!! OMG!!!!

Other games I’m looking forward to play: Fragile Dreams

March 23, 2010

I just found out that this game will be released in this month. It’s Fragile Dreams!

Well, its whole name is Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon. Typical… Japanese, eh?

It’s not a Nintendo game, it’s a licensed-by game and the European publisher is Rising Star Games.

The game is about a boy named Seto searching for people and the reason behind the mysterious apocalypse that made them disappear, making him seemingly the only person left on Earth. However, there may be another person somewhere singing in the ruins the apocalypse has left – a girl.

This really sounds like a beautiful game that I’m definetly going to buy pretty soon. First, however, I will buy the long awaited games. And then I’ll see whether I’m going to buy Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon. I’m not going to let any other game get in the way of HeartGold and SoulSilver, not even a beautiful game as Fragile Dreams seems to be.

Despite the fact that Fragile Dreams is set post-apocalyptically, the producer states that the game is not a survival horror, but more like a human drama.

Helloo? The graphics tells us that! Those beautiful pictures we’ve already seen speaks of it! No one could ever make a survival horror of that and the game makers of this game knew it. Bless them!

I want another Manaphy!

March 21, 2010

Still trying to defy my curse, but as you can see, it has the hold on me. And pics for this post will come! (Stupid curse!)

Now we can count down to the release date on our fingers!! It’s only five days left!!

Okey, this is actually other-Pokémon-games-I’m-currently-playing-post, but I really want to let my frustration out a little (again).

Well to start with the other Pokémon game: Recently I’ve played Pokémon Ranger a franchise of the Pokémon series where you are a boy or a girl who have just arrived in the Fiore region to become a Pokémon Ranger. In this region Pokémon aren’t allowed to be caught, however a Ranger can temporarily, not catch them, but capture them. There is a slight difference as Rangers are there to protect Pokémon and nature.

In the nature a Pokémon Ranger uses a Styler to capture Pokémon. There can only be kept a certain amount of Pokémon at a time, depending on the Rangers rank. You use the stylus to draw circles around the Pokémon until the numbers goes down to zero, then you can use it to remove obstacles on your way. When that is done with a Pokémon, it is automatically released.

Okay, that’s about the game. However, after the main game is commpleted, there are some special missions available.

One of them is “Rescue the Manaphy Egg”. After that mission is completed the Manaphy Egg is able to be traded over to a Diamond/Pearl cartridge (and possibly Platinum).

As I have done this before and transferred the egg over to my Diamond cartridge, I thout I just could start all over again to take the Manaphy Egg Mission once again. But, alas, the special missions weren’t able to be played again, and I had to find it out in the hard way.

Well I guess you can’t have all in life or in the Pokémon games. And I guess Nintendo and Game Freak probably didn’t want players to get as many of the exclusive Legendary as they desired, keeping it one of the rarest and hardest Pokémon to get in the same line as Mew, Celebi and Jirachi, oh and Shaymin. And just for the record… Celebi is still unobtainable in any European Pokémon RPG game so far. Perhaps, and only perhaps it will change in HeartGold and SoulSilver…

Pokémon to blog about: Slowpoke

March 16, 2010

TEN days left and still defying my countdown curse (in your face, countdown curse!) with having another post! This time, I want to have a Pokémon to blog about-post, and by request of one of my faithful readers (which happens to be my best friend), I shall blog about SLOWPOKE!!!

Slowpoke, the Dopey Pokémon, is famous for being… absent. The Pokédex has many times claimed that Slowpoke is, as its name says, slow and dimwitted and that it takes 5 seconds for it to feel any pain or anything at all. Although Slowpoke is claimed to be slow and stupid (sorry), the Pokédex also states that Slowpoke is very good at fishing with its tail.

Fishing with its tail is Slowpoke’s main keyword, especially when it comes to its evolutions. It is said that when a Shellder bites on to Slowpoke’s tail, it will evolve into a Slowbro and if the Shellder bites its head, Slowpoke will evolve into a Slowking in addition to holding a King’s Rock.

That’s at least how it works in the anime, but in reality, that is in the RPG games, it evolves into Slowbro by leveling up and evolves into Slowking by holding a King’s Rock while being traded.

Still, the Shellder is being called a Shellder, although it has been transformed during Slowpoke’s evolution. However there is Mantyke that evolves into Mantine if one have a Remoraid in the party while leveling Mantyke up. Since Mantyke is one of the Pokémon introduced in the current generation, this evolution method is also available in in the RPG being also introduced in the current generation. Slowpoke is a Pokémon that is perfectly tailored to use this evolution method, but since Slowpoke is one of the first Pokémon introduced, it have already had an evolution method configured.

In Pokémon Channel, Slowpoke is forecasting the weather on the Weather Channel. It takes a goood, long while, though, so be patient.

Oh, and yes, Slowpoke has its own town and a well in HeartGold and SoulSilver. In Azalea Town you can see Slowpoke wander around (or rather stand around) freely, because they are preserved. Still Team Rocket makes hulabaloo in the Slowpoke Well just West for Azalea.

Naaaw, isn’t that just cute!

Some artwork for ya!

My countdown curse!

March 15, 2010

I had forgotten all about it, but it doesn’t seem to have forgotten even the teeniest, tiniest bit about me.

I am talking about my curse… My countdown curse…!

You still don’t know what I’m talking aboout, so let me explain it more closely.

About every single time I have a kind of countdown on my computer, whether it’s on msn or on this blog or anywhere anyone can read it. And everytime I hold that countdown, when it’s closing in on the end of it, something happens, so that I have major difficulties on ending the countdown.

And guess what: IT HAPPENED AGAIN! Arrgh!

My own laptop have crashed!! There is no way I can switch it on at my own effort. Right now I’m writing on my best friend’s laptop and my own laptop will be delivered to reparation tomorrow, if I have got the time.

The curse doesn’t miss any chance of striking at me, when I look the other way. The other times the curse has striked has been when I have had countdowns for Christmas. Every freaking time juuuust before Christmas Eve, something happened so I couldn’t continue my countdown. Whether it was that the computer was so full of virus that it couldn’t handle anymore or that the Internet connection was F’ed.

But this time I’ve HAD IT!

HeartGold and SoulSilver out in US!

March 14, 2010

Yes, today is the day that the Japanese stops taunting the rest of the world for not being able to play HeartGold and SoulSilver. HeartGold and SoulSilver are out in the stores… in USA, that is!

I really think, with a second thought, that it’s more like the Americans are joining the Japanese with the taunting and the laughing at us Europeans and the Aussies and Kiwis.Yeah, laugh all you want, but in only 12 days of waiting, I will have a copy of one of the two in my posession.

If you listen closely, perhaps you hear an American Pokénerd either climbing the Tin Tower for Ho-Oh or crawling through Whirl Islands for Lugia… already.

The politics of Pokémon

March 13, 2010

13 days left now! Wooo!

Good news! Due to the release of HeartGold and SoulSilver, we the Pokéfans who have Diamond, Pearl and/or Platinum in their posession, can receive Arceus to these games!

Not so good news! You have pre-order HeartGold or SoulSilver at Toys’R’Us or Gamestop…

Now, what the heck is so wrong with that, you ask?

I’ll tell you what’s wrong with that. These stores may be huge around the world, but they are mostly at places where there are plenty of people such as capitals and other big cities. From where I live, there are miles and miles to the nearest Toys’R’Us store or Gamestop store. This means that if I want that Arceus, I’ll have to spend more money on getting to the store than actually pre-ordering the game.

I really don’t think it’s fair for us Pokéfans that do not live even close to a big city, to miss these opportunities, jsut because of the place we live. Do not misunderstand me, I do not live in a cabin deep within a huge forest or a big mountain. It’s just a small town, but still even with other town and cities around, even they do not have any of these stores. And, as a matter of fact, we do have other big stores similar to Toys’R’Us and Gamestop.

Still, I am more optimistic nowadays than a generation ago, back in the Game Boy Advance days. I always heard about Nintendo Events where special Pokémon were given away. For example the 10th Anniversary was about giving away most wanted Pokémon voted by Pokéfans all over the world. But it seemed like you had to live in a city of a population more than 60.000 people. Gah!

Nowadays, there are Nintendo events online, through Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Both the Secret Key, the Member Card and the Oak’s Letter item were available for downloading last year, and the current Nintendo Event is the Pikachu-coloured Pichu. Available for all with Internet connection and a Nintendo WFC USB… well most people. Maybe and only maybe Arceus will be available from there sometime in the future.

Just maybe…

Two weeks left!!

March 12, 2010

For European Pokéfans this friday mark the 14-days-left day until the forthcoming games are out in the stores! While it’s two weeks left here, it’s only two days(!) left across the pond (in the States if you didn’t get that!).

First! Here’s some official Nintendo artwork of the Johto region.

Yeah, maybe you’ve seen the Japanese trailer from when this blog started two months ago (everything is two today!), so I think it’s time for an English trailer… American English, though, but what the heck.

And this is a trailer I’ve never seen before, at least.

More artwork will come. And maybe I’ll find some more videos!

Put this on your bathroom door!

March 10, 2010

It’s merely 16 days left. And to warm up the countdown a bit more I’ll share this with you! If you’re able to, put it up somewhere, like in the bathroom. You probably should laminate it first then.
